Revealing design: Visual and physical results

11-04-2019

Curious to learn more about the results of the project Revealing design (Zichtbaar slimmer): Data physicalization for 21st century skills?

Together with CMD-student Shavonda Kewaldar, we have visualized the results in a booklet, that is now also available for online download (English version) en in het Nederlands.

It visually reports on the project Revealing design that aims to explore the potential of data physicalization -the process of making data and abstract information tangible- in education. Through a number of workshops for a wide ranging group of participants (N>130), including children of the St Jan primary school, it was found that making data physical can positively contribute to the 21st century skills critical thinking, collaboration/ communication and creativity. The project, a collaboration with primary school St Jan and Waag, has resulted in a number of things, such as a teaching format and tools for data physicalization and more than 50 physical representations of data.
