Final presentations students minor Intelligent Environments
26-06-2015
This afternoon, 30 students of the minor 'Intelligent Environments' presented the results of their research projects in poster/demo sessions. This year the quality seemed to be even higher than previous years. Innovative smart environments were shown in a range of different application domains, such as health, fitness, urban farming and urban displays.
One of the most interesting project presented was the following:
- Understanding movement patterns of older adults in home care settings, by Youssef Elkhayami, Bart Buijse & Graeham Blank: A study investigating whether older adults can correctly estimate their daily exercise patterns. A smartphone was used which the elderly study participants had to carry with them. This data was then compared with self-reports. Interestingly, the cobined data showed that the elderly overestimated their exercie activities.
