Marije Kanis has succesfully completed Fab Academy 2016
23-08-2016
Marije Kanis from the Digital life centre has successfully completed Fab Academy 2016, an intensive global course on ‘How to make (almost) anything’. This program on Digital Fabrication is lead by MIT professor Neil Gershenfeld.
Each week she executed a different project at high speed (from pcb's to furniture making) while reporting the learned lessons on her personal fab website. So in this way, others can learn from her experience too.
On June 15, 2016, Marije presented her final project "Bureau crazy" live locally (at Fablab Amsterdam, Waag society), as well as globally (to 70 fab lab worldwide, MIT). Bureau crazy is a verbal hand grenade against bureaucracy. It entails a wall and a cabinet which reacts in an endless loop by pointing you to either the wall or the cabinet. Its modular design is a physical way to fight against bureaucracy and is meant as an ‘award’ for people guilty of bureaucracy.
